This slice of Western Australian Snakeskin Jasper, polished on one side, 112gms, 10x6cms, 8mm thick, $25.00. snake54
Snakeskin Jasper occurs in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This gemstone occurs as seams of jaspilite in a banded iron formation. It is 2500 million years old, so metamorphism and folding has added other interesting features such as cross cutting quartz veins and contortions to the unusual banding.
